How to install an eSIM on iPhone
Installing a travel eSIM on an iPhone takes a couple of minutes over Wi‑Fi. It works on iPhone XR/XS and newer. Do it at home before you fly — the plan only starts when you activate data at your destination.
Step by step
- Connect your iPhone to Wi‑Fi.
- Open Settings → Cellular (or Mobile Data) → Add eSIM.
- Tap “Use QR Code” and scan the code from your confirmation email.
- Label the line (e.g. “Travel”) so you don’t mix it with your main number.
- At your destination, set the eSIM line as your Mobile Data and turn data roaming ON for that line only.
If it does not connect
Check that Mobile Data is set to the eSIM line, that network selection is Automatic, and restart the phone. Most issues are a quick settings fix.
